Our Story

The General Strath Creek is the passion project of local Prue Brown.

Serving pies from the post office counter, Prue hit a sweet spot with the Strath Creek community. Those everyday interactions sparked the idea for something more, bringing the post office and a country store together in one place.

Now set within a restored barn, The General is a country corner shop offering good coffee, country food, bags of ice and carefully chosen everyday essentials. Everything here plays a role in supporting locals and welcoming visitors.

The General Strath Creek is a place for everything and everyone.

We acknowledge the Taungurung people as the traditional custodians of the Central Victorian land on which we live and work. We pay our respects to Elders past, present and emerging, and extend that respect to all Indigenous Australians whose land we are fortunate to call home.
